brb. (บีอาร์บี) วงดนตรีอาร์แอนด์บีสัญชาติสิงคโปร์ ที่มีผลงานเพลงฮิตอย่าง “cool with it” และ “talking to myself” ล่าสุดพวกเขาได้ปล่อยซิงเกิลใหม่ที่มีชื่อว่า “my type” เป็นการเปิดตัวอีพีชุดใหม่ของพวกเขาที่จะปล่อยให้ฟังกันเต็มๆ ในปี 2021

“my type” มาในสไตล์ทรอปิคอลบีทที่มีความหมายของความรู้สึกการรักใครสักคนด้วยความเข้าใจและยอมรับ

brb. กล่าวว่า “พวกเราหวังว่าผลงานใหม่ที่เราปล่อยออกมาให้แฟนเพลงได้ฟังนี้จะให้พลังงานที่แตกต่างออกไป เพราะเมื่ออีพีก่อนหน้าอย่าง relationshit นั้นค่อนข้างที่จะมืดมน ดังนั้นครั้งนี้พวกเราเลยอยากจะเขียนเพลงที่เป็นด้านความสุขมากขึ้น พวกเราตื่นเต้นจริงๆ ที่คุณจะได้ฟังเพลงใหม่ที่พวกเราตั้งใจทำออกมานี้”

brb. (บีอาร์บี) เป็นชื่อย่อที่มาจากคำว่า be right back ประกอบด้วยสมาชิก 3 คน คือ Auzaie Zie, Clarence Liew Oliveiro และ Marc Lian เปิดตัวครั้งแรกเมื่อปลายปี 2018 จากความชื่นชอบในดนตรีสไตล์ R&B, Hip Hop และ Soul พวกเขาจึงสร้างสรรค์ผลงานเพลงออกมาในบรรยากาศของยุค ‘80s และ ‘90s เข้าไว้ด้วยกัน กับเพลงล่าสุด “my type” นี้จะเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง Sanook Music มี exclusive interview ส่งตรงจากสิงคโปร์มาให้แฟนๆ ชาวไทยได้อ่านให้หายคิดถึงกัน

สวัสดีจากประเทศไทย! พวกคุณจำตอนที่มาเมืองไทยครั้งล่าสุดในงาน Bangkok Music City 2019 กันได้หรือเปล่า?

brb. : พวกเรามีประสบการณ์อันยอดเยี่ยมตอนที่เรามากรุงเทพฯ เมื่อปีที่แล้วครับ ช่วงเวลาที่พวกเราประทับใจมากที่สุดก็จะเป็นตอนก่อนที่พวกเราเล่นจบแล้วกำลังจะกลับแล้ว แฟนๆ ต่างพากันร้องเพลง “cool with it” กันเสียงดังมาก พวกเราเลยรู้สึกดีมากที่ได้เจอแฟนๆ ทุกคน และได้รับฟังเรื่องราวที่พวกเขาได้มีโอกาสทำความรู้จักกับเพลงของพวกเราครับ  

พวกคุณกลับมากับเพลงใหม่ “my type” หลังจากอัลบั้มอีพี Relationshit เมื่อช่วงเดือนมีนาคมที่ผ่านมา ที่มาของเพลงนี้เป็นอย่างไรบ้าง?

brb. : เพลง “my type” เป็นเพลงที่พูดถึงการรักใครแบบหมดทั้งใจ เข้าใจด้านแย่ๆ ที่เปรียบเสมือนตัวตนที่เป็นปิศาจของเขา และยังอยู่ข้างๆ ไปตลอดจนกว่าจะได้ใกล้ชิดกันมากขึ้นครับ

ทำไมถึงเลือกที่จะใช้ “กุหลายสีน้ำเงิน” เป็นภาพหน้าปกซิงเกิลในเพลงนี้?

brb. : เราเลือกภาพดอกไม้ที่กำลังบานเพื่อสื่อถึงแนวดนตรีใหม่ๆ และการเริ่มต้นใหม่ของพวกเรา ดนตรีของพวกเราค่อยๆ ดีขึ้นและพวกเราก็ตื่นเต้นกับสิ่งที่พวกเราจะเจอในวันข้างหน้ามากๆ ตอนที่พวกเรากลับไปฟังเพลงกันนี้กันอีกครั้งระหว่างอัดเพลงนี้ พวกเราเริ่มเห็นภาพมิวสิควิดีโอในหัว ทั้งอารมณ์และอะไรต่างๆ มันทำให้เราเห็นภาพว่ามันจะออกมาเป็นสีน้ำเงินน่ะครับ

แล้วสำหรับ “your type” สเป็กสาวๆ ของพวกคุณเป็นอย่างไรกันบ้าง?

brb. : แน่นอนว่าต้องเป็นคนที่มีอะไรเหมือนๆ กันเยอะหน่อยครับ ใครสักคนที่ง่ายๆ สบายๆ และมีรสนิยมอะไรคล้ายๆ กัน

ระยะหลังมานี้มีศิลปินสิงคโปร์รุ่นใหม่หลายคนได้รับความนิยมที่มากขึ้นในต่างประเทศ รวมถึงพวกคุณด้วย คิดว่าอะไรคือเหตุผลที่ทำให้ศิลปินสิงคโปร์ได้รับความสนใจจากแฟนเพลงต่างชาติมากขึ้น?

brb. : อาจจะเป็นเพราะอะไรหลายๆ อย่างนะครับ ทั้งการใช้ social media ที่ทำให้มีศิลปินทำดนตรีออกมากันมากขึ้น ผมมองว่ามันก็เป็นเหตุผลเดียวกันกับศิลปินในประเทศอื่นๆ รวมทั้งในไทย และประเทศอื่นๆ ในเอเชียด้วยนะครับ เป็นเรื่องที่ดีมากๆ ที่ได้เห็นศิลปินได้รับความสนใจจากผู้ฟังต่างประเทศมากขึ้น และยังสามารถแบ่งปันกันฟังข้ามทวีปได้ด้วย

พวกคุณมีแผนจะกลับมาแสดงที่ไทยอีกหรือเปล่า?

brb. : แน่นอนอยู่แล้วครับ จริงๆ พวกเรามีแผนจะไปไทยในปี 2020 นี้ด้วย แต่เกิดโรคระบาดขึ้นเสียก่อน พวกเราจะกลับไปหาทุกคนอีกครั้งทันทีที่ทุกอย่างปลอดภัยครับ!

brb. is the R&B Singaporean trio band owning the hits “cool with it” and “talking to myself”. They released their latest single “my type” to introduce their new EP, which plans to release in 2021.

“We hope our new EP we’re planning to release will give you a different energy. In the last EP, Relationshit, is pretty dark, so we try to write happier-vibe songs. We’re excited to let you guys listen to what we’ve been prepared for.” said brb.

brb. is the abbreviation from “be right back”, consists of 3 members; Auzaie Zie, Clarence Liew Oliveiro and Marc Lian. They debuted in the last of 2018 from the love of R&B, hip hop and soul music, so they always come up with the songs in the ‘80s and ‘90s vibe together. How about “my type”, their latest single? Let’s find out in Sanook Music’s exclusive interview with brb. who directly sent it to us from their hometown.

Sawasdee ka! Hello from Bangkok. Could you remember last time you visited here for the Bangkok Music City 2019? How was it? Did you have any memorable moments from that show?

brb. : We had an amazing experience in Bangkok last year! Our favorite moment was the last show before we left, when our fans were singing their lungs out to ‘cool with it’. It was nice to meet some of them and hear their stories of how they discovered our music.

You come back with a new song "my type" after releasing an EP album, Relationshit, last March. What's the idea or story behind this song?

brb. : The song is about loving someone wholeheartedly, understanding their demons and being there throughout the journey of getting closer.

Why did you choose blue roses as the single cover?

brb. : We chose blooming flowers to represent a new sound and chapter for us, our music is constantly evolving and we’re excited for what’s ahead! When we were listening back to the song upon recording it we were visualizing a music video in our minds and the dominant vibe and color was blue.

What's "your type" that you guys look for in a girl?

brb. : Definitely, someone that we would have a lot in common with. Someone chill, easy going and also have the same taste in memes.

Lately there are more new-generation Singaporean artists who have gained more popularity outside Singapore, including you guys. In your opinion, what are the reasons why Singaporean artists are getting more attention widely these days?

brb. : It’s probably a combination of social media and the fact that there are more artists than ever making music. I think the same can be said of Thailand and other countries in Asia, it’s great to see artists having an audience out of their home countries and sharing their art across the region.

Do you have a plan to come to Thailand again?

brb. : Most definitely, we already had plans in 2020 but the pandemic happened. We’ll be back once it’s safe to do so!
