คลิปสัมภาษณ์สุด Exclusive ของ JAY B หัวหน้าวง GOT7 กับการเติบโตในฐานะศิลปินเดี่ยวอย่างเต็มตัวในบ้านหลังใหม่ ที่เขาพร้อมพิสูจน์ความสามารถของตัวเองอย่างเต็มที่

หลังจากเปิดตัวเพลงแรกในฐานะศิลปินเดี่ยวครั้งแรกด้วยเพลง “Switch It Up” วันนี้ JAY B กลับมาพร้อมกับมินิอัลบั้มชุดแรกในชีวิต SOMO:FUME พร้อมเพลงไตเติล “B.T.W” ที่ได้ Jay Park ศิลปินรุ่นพี่ที่ต้อนรับเขาเข้าบ้านหลังใหม่ ภายใต้ต้นสังกัด H1GHR MUSIC อย่างอบอุ่น

JAY B มีโอกาสได้ให้สัมภาษณ์กับ Sanook Music ถึงการปรับตัวให้เข้ากับบ้านหลังใหม่ การทำงานเพลงคนเดียวที่แตกต่างจากตอนทำเพลงสำหรับ 7 คนกับ GOT7 รวมถึงการพิสูจน์ความสามารถทางดนตรีให้แฟนๆ ทุกคนได้เห็นอีกตัวตนหนึ่งของเขามากขึ้น

เข้ามาเป็นศิลปินน้องใหม่ในค่าย H1GHR MUSIC รู้สึกอย่างไรบ้าง?

JAY B: ก่อนอื่นเลย หลังจากที่เข้ามาแล้วจริงๆ ก็มีกลัวนิดหน่อยครับ แต่ทุกคนดีกับผมมาก ก็เลยชอบมากครับ ผมถาม และปรึกษาเกี่ยวกับความกังวลต่างๆ เกี่ยวกับเรื่องอนาคตกับแจบอมฮยองเยอะมากๆ ผมได้รับฟีดแบ็คกลับมาด้วย ซึ่งผมนำมาปรับใช้ได้ดีเลยครับ พี่แจบอม (Jay Park) ก็เชื่อในตัวผมมาก ผมเลยคิดว่าต้องประคองความเชื่อนี้ไว้ให้ดี เลยตั้งใจทำเพลง และเตรียมอัลบั้มให้ดีครับ 

กับศิลปินคนอื่นในค่ายก็โอเคดีครับ โอเคมากกว่าที่คิดเอาไว้ โดยเฉพาะพี่อุค (WOOGIE) อาจจะเป็นเพราะผ่านไปเดือนนึงแล้วหรือเปล่า พวกเราเจอกัน และได้คุยตลอด ก็เลยโอเคมากครับ

ทำเพลงในมินิอัลบั้มแรกของตัวเอง แตกต่างจากตอนทำเพลงให้ GOT7 อย่างไรบ้าง?

JAY B: เพราะทำแต่ละอย่างด้วยความรอบคอบ เลยคิดว่าทำได้ดีมากครับ ไม่แน่ใจว่าทำได้รอบคอบแบบเพอร์เฟ็กต์เลยไหม แต่ไม่ว่าจะมีเรื่องอะไร เล็กๆ น้อยๆ ก็จะเช็กอย่างละเอียด และเพราะคอยคิดว่าแบบไหนถึงจะดี เลยคิดว่าทำได้ดีอยู่ครับ 

ตอนเตรียมอัลบั้มคนเดียวไม่ยุ่งยากเท่าตอนเตรียมอัลบั้มสำหรับ 7 คน ถึงอย่างนั้นในเพลงหนึ่งเพลงผมต้องดึงเสน่ห์ของมันออกมาทั้งหมด และในรอบนี้ก็มีเพลง featuring เยอะ ผมต้องจับความสำคัญ และอารมณ์ของเพลงเองให้ได้ สิ่งนั้นมันทำให้รู้สึกเหนื่อยกว่าที่คิดครับ แต่ถึงอย่างนั้นผมก็พยายามทำเต็มที่ครับ ต้องปรับตัวให้ได้ครับ

มีวิธีเลือกปล่อยเพลงลง SoundCloud และลงอัลบั้มของตัวเองอย่างไรบ้าง?

JAY B: อยากเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างนะครับ แต่จริงๆ ลองคิดดูอีกทีแล้วน่าจะไม่ต่างกันเท่าไรครับ น่าจะเป็นความต่างในความรู้สึกส่วนตัวของผมเอง อย่างเพลงนี้ต้องปล่อยออกมาแบบนี้ อีกเพลงต้องปล่อยออกมาแบบนั้น ต่างกันตรงความรู้สึกส่วนตัว ไม่ว่าจะดนตรีหรืออารมณ์เพลง เพราะยังไงมันก็เป็นงานที่ผมทำเอง ปกติคงจะแยกความต่าง แต่ถึงจะแยกไปก็ไม่ได้มีอะไรขนาดนั้น แล้วมันก็คล้ายๆ กันครับ แค่ทำแนวเพลงได้โดยไม่มีข้อจำกัดครับ

แนวดนตรีแบบฉบับของ JAY B เป็นอย่างไร?

JAY B: หลักๆ คงเป็นป็อป และ R&B ครับ ถ้าอยู่ๆ ผมบอกว่าจะทำเพลงฮิปฮอป หรือทำเพลง EDM ก็คงจะไม่ได้ใช่ไหมครับ หลักๆ ก็คงเป็นประมาณนั้นครับ ช่วงนี้ไม่มีแนวเพลงที่ติดเลยครับ จะเป็นพวกเพลงดีๆ เพลงที่ฟังแล้วรู้สึกดีครับ

เพลงแรก “Switch It Up” เป็นซาวด์ของ JAY B คนเดิมที่โตขึ้น หรือเป็นตัวตนอีกด้านหนึ่งของ JAY B?

JAY B: สิ่งที่อยากให้แฟนๆ เห็นเป็นพิเศษคือ ตอนนี้พอเข้ามาอยู่ในสังกัดแล้ว อยากบอกว่าผมเป็นคนแบบนี้ ไม่ใช่ผมคนที่เคยอยู่กับแฟนๆ GOT7 แต่อยากให้แฟนๆ ของ H1GHR MUSIC ได้เห็นว่าผมเป็นคนแบบนี้ครับ และเติบโตแล้ว... ไม่สิ มันคือการเริ่มเติบโตครับ มันคือจุดยืนครับ ดังนั้นผมไม่ได้ทำแค่เพลงรักหวานๆ เท่านั้น จะทำหลากหลายแนว เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นที่จะบอกว่าต่อไปจะทำเพลงแบบแนวนี้ครับ

เพลงที่ชอบที่สุดในมินิอัลบั้ม SOMO:FUME?

JAY B: ผมชอบเพลงที่ชื่อว่า "FAME" ครับ และตอนทำเพลงก็สนุกครับ ตอนที่เพลงออกมาก็พอใจหมดเลย เพราะรีบทำเลยค่อนข้างกังวลมาก แต่พอออกมาดี เลยภูมิใจ และชอบมากขึ้นครับ ถ้าให้ร้องสักท่อนก็คงเป็น “너와 함께 있다면 다 가능해 We got the FAME 주변 사람 모두 우릴 보며 Capturing the frame” 

ได้รับฟีดแบ็คอัลบั้มนี้จากเพื่อนๆ GOT7 บ้างหรือเปล่า?

JAY B: คนที่ฟังให้ได้มีแค่ จินยอง ครับ เพราะคนอื่นเวลาไม่ตรงกันเลย แต่บังเอิญที่มีเวลาตรงกันกับจินยอง เลยบอกจินยองไปตอนที่ไปบ้านของเขา พอบอกไปเขาก็บอกจะลองฟังให้ เขาบอกว่าเพลงดีทั้งหมดเลยครับ ตอนที่ฟังเพลง "FAME" และ "B.T.W" ให้ ก็บอกว่าทั้งสองเพลงดีพอจะเป็นเพลงไตเติลได้ แต่ทำถูกแล้วที่เลือกเพลง "B.T.W" มาเป็นเพลงไตเติลครับ

จากประโยคที่ชอบโพสต์เอาไว้ใน YouTube และ social medie ของตัวเอง เติมคำในช่องว่าง LIFE IS___?

JAY B: อันนั้นคือ ผมถามถึงทุกคนครับ เหตุผลที่ผมพิมพ์ว่า LIFE IS___ แล้วปล่อยว่างไว้ คือ มันมีชีวิตแบบที่ผมคิด กับชีวิตแบบที่ทุกคนคิด เป็นคำถามที่ถามถึงผมเอง แต่ก็เป็นประโยคที่ผมถามถึงทุกคนด้วยครับ เลยตั้งใจเว้นว่างเอาไว้ LIFE IS___ ผมถามถึงทุกคนว่า คิดว่าชีวิตคืออะไร แต่ถ้าให้พูดถึงการใช้ชีวิตด้วยตนเองของผมตอนนี้ล่ะก็ ผมคิดว่าชีวิตของผมคือเสียงครับ

คำชมที่ดีที่สุดที่เคยได้รับจากแฟนคลับ

JAY B: เวลาที่ได้ยินคำว่า "เซ็กซี่จังเลย" ครับ

หากโควิด-19 ดีขึ้น และมีโอกาสได้มาเจอแฟนๆ ชาวไทย อยากทำหรืออยากบอกอะไรกับพวกเขาบ้าง?

JAY B: อย่างแรกเลยคืออยากเล่นคอนเสิร์ตครับ และอยากไปเดินตลาดกลางคืนครับ จริงๆ แล้วพวกเราไปประเทศไทยบ่อยมากครับ แต่ไม่ได้ไปเที่ยวด้วยตัวเองบ่อยสักเท่าไร เพราะไปเล่นแต่คอนเสิร์ตก็เลยยุ่งครับ ไปเล่นคอนเสิร์ตแล้วก็กลับ มีแค่ประมาณนี้ อยากลองไปทำอะไรหลายอย่างที่ไทยด้วยตนเองดูครับ และสิ่งที่อยากจะบอกคือ เรื่องที่อยากจะบอก ถ้าได้เจอกันค่อยบอกดีกว่าครับ จะไม่ลืมเลย ไม่ลืม อยากจะเล่าว่าผมไปที่ไหนมาด้วยตัวเองบ้างครับ นั่นคือสิ่งที่อยากจะบอกครับ

An exclusive interview with JAY B, GOT7’s leader, about his growth on solo artist career in the new music label, where he’s now more than ready to prove his skills to all the fans out there.

After releasing “Switch It Up” as the first solo track, JAY B now comes back with SOMO:FUME, his first mini album as a solo artist and released “B.T.W” feat. Jay Park, his senior who has warmly welcomed him to his music label, H1GHR MUSIC.

JAY B has made an interview with Sanook Music about how he adapted to the new label, the differences between working for his own album and on 7-members album for GOT7’s and how he would like to show his musical skill to the fans to get to know the real him better this time.

How do you feel about joining the H1GHR MUSIC family?

JAY B: First of all, after I came in, I was a bit scared. But everyone is very nice to me, so I like it a lot. I asked for advice about my concerns about my future with Jaebum-hyung a lot and I received good feedback that I had put to good use. Jaebum-hyung strongly believes in me. So I think I have to uphold this belief by making good music and good albums. 

The other artists are good too. Better than I thought, especially Wook-hyong, maybe it has been 1 month. We always meet and talk, so it's really good.

Is it different when you made your first mini album and GOT7's album?

JAY B: I made it wisely, so I think I did a good job. I'm not sure if it's going to be perfect. But I've checked every little detail. Always check which one is good, so I think I did pretty well. Preparing my own album isn't as complicated as for a 7-members one. But for my own song, I had to pull out its charm on my own. Also, this time I did a lot of featuring tracks. I had to focus on its meaning and the mood of the song well. And that was more tiring than I thought. But I tried my best and had to adapt to it.

How do you choose the song to be released on SoundCloud or your album?

JAY B: I'd like to compare them to show the differences. But actually there's not much difference. Maybe just my personal feelings, like, this song is going to be this and that… So, they're different depending on my personal feelings, both the music or the mood because they're all the songs I made. I may normally differentiate them, but actually they're not much different. They're kind of similar. (on SoundCloud) Just making music with no limits.

What is JAY B's signature sound?

JAY B: Mostly pop and R&B. If I happen to make Hip-hop or EDM songs, they won't be good. So, they're just like that. I haven't been addicted to any music genres lately. They're just good songs that I'm happy while I'm listening to.

Your first solo track, "Switch It Up", is the sound of the grown-up JAY B or is it the other side of JAY B?

JAY B: What I really want to show the fans is, when I'm in the new agency, this is who I am, not the one who used to be with GOT7's fans. I'd like to show H1GHR MUSIC fans who I really am and I've grown up, no, I just started to grow up. It's my standpoint. So, I'm not only making sweet love songs. I'll make various music genres. It's the start of me telling you I'd make music like this.

What is your most favorite song in SOMO:FUME?

JAY B: I like the song called "FAME". I've had fun making this song. When it was out, I liked all parts of it. Actually I was in a hurry, so I was quite worried. But it turned out to be great, so I'm proud and like it more. If I have to sing one line… “너와 함께 있다면 다 가능해 We got the FAME 주변 사람 모두 우릴 보며 Capturing the frame”

Did you receive any feedback from GOT7 friends?

JAY B: Jinyoung is the only one who listened to it. Other guys' schedules didn't match mine. But luckily, I found some free time with Jinyoung, so I told him when I visited his home. He said he would listen to my songs and then he said they were all good. For "FAME" and "B.T.W", he said they both are good enough to be the title tracks. It was the right choice for "B.T.W" to be the title track.

Please fill in the blank, LIFE IS___?

JAY B: Actually, I ask all of you. The reason I wrote LIFE IS___ and leave it blank because there's a life I imagine and what others think. It's a question for myself, but it's also a question to all of you. So I intentionally leave it blank like, LIFE IS___. I'd like to ask everyone, what is life? If I have to tell you what my life is right now, I'd say my life is the sound.

What's the best compliment you've ever had?

JAY B: When I hear someone say I'm "sexy".

If the pandemic gets better and you have a chance to meet Thai fans, What would you like to do with them?

JAY B: First, I'd like to hold a concert and go to the night market. Actually, we visited Thailand very often, but didn't travel around that much because we were there for a concert, it was busy. Played a show and then went back. That was it. I'd like to do various activities in Thailand by myself. And the thing I'd like to say is… what I'd like to say, I'll say when we meet. I won't forget, never. I'd like to tell you where I've been by myself. That's the thing I'd like to say.
